Better method to evenly space various sized sketch entities.

I would like to find a more efficient way of evenly spacing out different sized shapes when sketching parts. Currently I dimension between each shape, and when I need to make changes, each dimension is modified individually, this becomes tedious when designing something such as a Drill Bit Holder.
I thought maybe a constraint where selecting two points or lines, then selecting a previous dimension to act as control might work, but it doesn't seem to be an option, nor is there a way to control a group of dimensions with a single command.

Hello Sam. Make the 8mm dimensions between the shapes a variable. Then just change the value of the variable to change all the spacings in one shot. - Scotty

This problem can be solved with constraints if you set up your sketch differently (see this link).
If the spacing is the most important feature, that's the approach you should take in the sketching process (give spacing lines equal constraints and one dimension) - instead of using construction lines at the center-points, use horizontal constraints (point to point)
You can also do what Scotty says - your choice (and I'm sure there are other approaches that work). Good luck
