How to dimension on an extrude?

I have a ring with a gap. I want this gap to be a certain size.
The ring is done as a sweep of a circle on a circular path.
I measured the size of the gap on the center of the circle to be swept, but since the cut will be perpendicular to the path and the ring has a width, the effective size of the gap is smaller

Is there a way to set the dimension on the final object (and not on the sketch)? Or should I do the math myself? Or is there a standard way to address such cases?
I will probably end the gap with a fillet - which could even more complicate the situation→ I think there is a better way to manage such gaps (?)

If not in the sketch you could create another solid at the intended gap and do a Boolean Remove to create the gap. However, perhaps what might be better is to have sketch 2's circle's circumference rather than the center intersect the path for the sweep. - Scotty

I am not sure I understand this. I created the gap by removing a piece of a circle (the path).
Do you mean that I should / could have created a posteriori another solid embedded in the (now full) circle and subtract it? I imagine how I can do that but I am not sure how it would help with the size of the gap.

This is brilliant, thanks! I never looked at mate connectors because I did not yet need to do an assembly - but I see that they have other issues as well. I am unsure how this differs from a plane, but I will read about mate connectors and ask a new question if needed.

Thanks a lot, also for the corrected drawing which helped me to exactly understand what you meant.

Here is another thought building gap in sketch with variables.

Yes. Check the linked document again. (Use the roll back bar to follow the new features) - Scotty
