Cut out after sheet metal

Lane_HigginsLane_Higgins Member Posts: 6

I have the below part that I am wanting to cut the shape out of after adding a 90° bend using the sheet metal add bend feature but can not seem to figure it out. Any tips?

    Hey @Lane_Higgins,
Create the sketch of the area that you want to cut away and use the extrude/remove feature.
Alternatively, you could have started with the sketch you showed, Sheetmetal model (thicken) and then added your 90deg bend.

Let me know if it works.

    Cheers,

    David

Looks like another AI generated generic answer…
#2 doesn't make sense in Onshape.

For an actual answer, you can't use the "intersect" option in sheet metal so you have to sketch the areas you want to remove as separate regions, something like this:

Is there a feature like SolidWorks the flip side to cut feature which allows the alternate site of the sketch to be cut out? From what I have read it is only available when not using sheet metal feature on OnShape. If there is not a feature available is there talk of a feature like this coming?

    Hey @Lane_Higgins,

I think the easiest for you would be to just draw a square and you are able to select only the outside selections.
