I mirrored something but I cannot modify each part

I want to make stamping plates, one has stamp extruded with other cut in the plate, I made the extruded then mirrored this with the hopes of changing the extruded parts to cut but when I try to modify the stamping text on the mirrored part it changes the original. Does this make sense, is there a way to do this or am I asking the impossible?

Can you post a public link to your document?

should be easier to see what the problem is.

I it' what I'm guessing the issue is then you just need to change you sequence. In this example the extruded text is done after the mirror.

I continued to play with it after posting this and had the thought what if I try to extrude out the background and it worked? I like your idea but I am trying to have one plate fit into the other so wording needs to be exact, curious if doing your way will do that? guessing if I leave the line I'm wrapping the text on it should.

another question why are two other "things…don't know technical word for them" remaining, after I moved they remained and if I try to delete they delete the part?

So I just checked out your link, I see that there are two parts safe to assume female and male part? I made a copy and made public to edit but I cannot figure out how to change text, any chance you could help? sorry for the really basic questions but this is not an intuitive program, I am reading up but has a serious learning curve.

Yes M/F to include tooling. Does Not Include clearance for material at this iteration. Had some trouble with the Surface Text script. Behaviors I couldn't figure out. Kept including something that caused a flipped block doubling thickness of the block I started with no text showing? It's editable though. I see basic note I used is not apparently editable.
