Issues with sweeping along a helix projected onto a curved surface.

I have a cylinder that has been cut into it so it curves in the centre. I then projected a helix onto it and am I attempting to cut a half circle out of it along the helix all the way up the face of the part. However, the sweep is usually non manifold and if I play with it for a bit and get it to cut, finally the half circle twists out in odd ways and doesn't just cut along the face. I've linked my doc as I'm terrible at explaining, but I was wondering if I can get some help with why the sweep won't cut into the part (part 2) properly. The curve im using as my sweep path is curve 2

Yes Sketch 6 needs cleaning up. Mine has a simpler/cleaner sketch
