Bridging Curve

Grav_electricGrav_electric Member Posts: 20

Would bridging curve work if I was trying to smoothly connect a circle to a square for a cleaner look than using just loft, fillets, and face blend? And if it would be better could someone give me an example of how to do it please. I'm sort of new to bridging curve and trying to improve my designs.

Its better if you provide an example of what you have tried and someone can help you figure out how to do it better or correctly.

    Here is an example:

When modeling square to round transitions, I use 3D fit splines as guide curves. Because you are only picking two points for each spline, it produces a straight line in 3d space. You will need 8 guide lines to loft a proper "square to round". Without these guide lines the loft will be misshaped.

Bridging curves would be used if you wanted flowing curved sides on the transition - but the example looked like a simple square to round.

Why not just use the loft feature with ends defined to tangency. then fillet the square corners? Might require variable fillet but still seems easier than messing with curves.
