I imported a file from tinkercad and need to know how to scale it down

Basically, I've been trying to use the scale tool to make the file smaller but it's not working and it gives me this message…

how would i get a mate connector or vertex for this

    It's what it says - edit the transform feature, click the "Point or mate connector" query list in the dialog, and select something relative to which you want to scale. The world origin, for instance.

    Can pick the origin or should be able to pick any vertex on the import object.
