Composite part design

Hi Onshape designers,

I wonder if there's a feature script for designing composite parts (I'm not talking about the Onshape feature). Are any of you facing this challenge?
Before embarking on the development of a specific feature script, I'd be curious to know how you manage to achieve multiple ply representations with sequences, as well as mass optimization.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Can you provide a specific example? There are creative ways to use Onshape and make custom features, but we will need to know exactly what you are expecting it to do.

I've worked with a few companies who produce composite products, but the designs tend to be very specific to the company and their process.
For example, I've worked on some that generate a surface to represent the layer in the final geometry, but then it also generates as a flat pattern for cutting layer material. But decisions have to be make on how the shape is flattened and that is very situationally dependent. Same with how layers are represented, I don't think there is a single way to do it, but your manufacturing or design process will inform decisions.

Likewise, I've done a few features that optimize for mass, but decisions have to be made on how that mass is optimized. Deforming geometry requires understanding your design intent and making the appropriate changes to ensure the mass optimization is done in a suitable way.
