Loft 2 surfaces with inner loops

microsoft_ppmicrosoft_pp Member Posts: 6

I am trying to loft 2 surfaces together to create a solid with a tapered hole, but I get the error "Cannot use faces or regions with inner loops as profiles." I'm still fairly new at this, and help would be appreciated.

Doesn't seem like I can open your link. But you will probably have to do the hole as a separate feature

You can only loft single profile regions - for example, you can not loft a sketch that contains a circle profile inside a rectangle profile. You could edit the circle profile into construction geometry - that way you meet the requirements of a single profile sketch (the rectangle), and then, later you can project the construction geometry to a new sketch for use as a loft profile. I would recommend the "shell" command if your design calls for constant thickness - otherwise a 2nd loft to cut the inner contour is required .

Not sure what the surface fills are about. The solid loft works fine when you add the holes after.

I don't want the body to be tapered, just the internal hole, which I managed to do, but thank you.
