Render Studio

AuroraRonAuroraRon Member Posts: 136 PRO

I'm wondering if someone understands what's happening here. The enclosure is made of the same material, but the parts on the right with the same appearance set in Render Studio do not look the same.

Why is this happening, and how can we correct it?

I have contacted Support, but it's been almost 24 hours, and we're still waiting for a reply. Perhaps you're busy, and someone here may have an idea of what's going on.

Hard to tell without see the actual document but my guess would be that you have some face appearances set somehow…
Either that or the appearance is not fully opaque and the opening at the top means some light is showing through (while the part on the left is "closed" so it's dark inside). This could explain the shadows on the corners as well.

    Thank you.

I just checked to ensure it is set to complete assembly or the part as a hole rather than just the surface, and I got the same result.

Have you added some surface effect to the object on top of the appearance? That might then not show up in the appearance properties.

I don't know how to do that, so I'd say no.
I selected the whole assembly and said to unassign all appearances, then reapplied the appearance to the whole parts and others. Others look fine, but the end parts on that sub-assembly all have that shading-looking issue still.

@AuroraRon if I look at the image to me it looks like you have an appearance assigned that has some translucency, which appearance is it? On the right are we seeing through that panel to a frame behind around the edges?

For a translucent appearance the look will vary depending on the thickness of the object it is assigned and the lighting conditions behind it. I notice that in this geometry there is a grill at the top which will let light through to hit the back of the surface there. I suspect if you sealed that off as a test the appearances would then look the same.

I'd need to know which appearance is involved to know whether it has translucency or not but that is what it looks like to me.

    Bingo! Excellent observation. Thanks, Paul.

I'm using "plastic, metallic white." I did realize it is a bit translucent. I changed it, and that was it.

That's also what I hypothesized in the second half of my post…
