Not a perfect round surface on a ball

k_koderak_kodera Member Posts: 8

I created a sphere in Onshape by creating a sketch of a semicircle, which I then rotated to shape into a sphere.
Now the surface of the ball is not round. They are rather small cuboids.
I'm attaching a screenshot of Oneshape and the printed result.
I added the red line so that you can see better that it is not a perfect curve, but rather small lines that are then formed into a circle.
Unfortunately, this can be seen very clearly in the result.

3D printing quality is dependent on geometry and printer machine capability and settings. What you're seeing on screen is something of the computer does to represent a curve. What you're seeing on a 3D print is a result of your export settings. Try going with fine detail on the export settings or custom if you need even less segmentation.

    1. The "cuboids" on your onshape screen are just a representation of the true shape. you can view in high quality, this will reduce the "cuboids" but has no effect on the true form of the object.
    2. Your print result is higly dependend of the export settings you use. Try exporting in step format or use custom settings for the .stl file these will increase the quality and reduse these "cuboids".

I exported the file with fine and user-defined settings and as a step file.
In the Bambu Slicer there is already an extreme difference. I'll print it later.
    Thank you!
