Making two different color ways of my product in one document, is this smart?

It seems like this should work but I'm new to onshape so I'm unsure if this will cause problems with packaging and exporting my files to manufacturers, but maybe someone can help:

So I have my product in a single document with Part Studio 1 and Assembly 1, and I have the materials and colors selected for the neutral colorway in Part Studio 1 with Assembly 1 linked to the those parts. I am also making a more fun and colorful version of the product and am wondering what the best way to make that second version is. So far I have duplicated the part studio and assembly and renamed them and I plan on using Part Studio 2 to make the second colorway and link Assembly 2 to those parts.

Is this a good way to manage two different color versions of a product? or should I create a second document for the second colorway?

Duplication is generally a bad idea!

Use configurations instead! You might want to use something like the excellent part color FS to set the colors as it's easier to work with than the built-in "configured properties" workflow.

I knew it felt a little too easy. These configurations sounds like exactly what I need, though, so I'll give that a try. Thanks!
