    maybe other pdf management apps can do this but the goal here is to have the ability to link it (bookmark) to the actual model.

    Current AI language models are not yet reliable enough for design work except in the hobbyist space - If I have to double check it myself anyway, what's the point?

    1969.10.02 NAT 190 MSBR Design.pdf

    Page 203

    "A coolant-salt storage tank, ~10 ft in diameter x 20 ft high, is provided for each of the coolant salt-circulating loops and for the two heat removal systems on the fuel-salt drain tank. The six tanks have a total storage volume of ~8400 ft3 of coolant salt. The tanks are located in a heated cell which maintains the temperature above 800˚F."

    So this is really useful. Granted, I do not need the whole paragraph retyped but could just have tags off on the side of the pdf that i can move around if needed.

    For unit conversion, Onshape has a lot in their standard library:

    https://cad.onshape.com/FsDoc/library.html#ValueWithUnits

    Units:

    (some omitted)

    meter

    centimeter

    millimeter

    inch

    foot

    yard

    squareMeter, … = m^2

    cubicMeter, … = m^3

    kilogram

    gram

    ounce

    pound

    second

    newton = kg m / s^2

    kilonewton

    poundForce

    pascal = kg / m / s^2

    kilopascal

    megapascal

    poundPerSquareInch, …

    newtonMeter = kg m^2 / s^2

    inchPound

    meterPerSecondSquared = m / s^2

    radianPerSecond = rad / s

    degreePerSecond

    joule = kg m^2 / s^2

    footPoundForce

    It also has the capability to work with temperature, current, etc. (See units.fs in https://cad.onshape.com/documents/12312312345abcabcabcdeff as well as https://cad.onshape.com/FsDoc/library.html#ValueWithUnits

    You can also trace with Inkscape.

    When making your pdf, just use the "find and replace" option in your pdf editor to replace your part numbers with hyperlinks to your Onshape model or drawing.

    I have recently tried to discuss the nonlinearity in specific heat capacity of water with a selection of AI systems. They all failed. Most common cause of failure: Their inability to properly recognize and convert units and reference systems. Some outright lied to me. Confronted with the fact, they produced a truckload of excuses and then lied again. I don't trust them for this kinda work. Instead of using AI to convert inches to centimeters, we should finally do away with the imperial unit system altogether. That'd be much more efficient than burning large amounts of fuel to power large server farms to run unreliable AI to solve completely obsolete problems. Going down that path, we're shooting our foot. Let's use AI to do something meaningful instead.
