Moving Parts in Assemblies

Why do multiple parts move in my assembly when I am just grabbing one to move? I rotate one part around its mate, and other parts move as well. Very frustrating; I know I don't have anything else selected.

Have you 'fixed' one of the parts? Here is a sample of moving parts made for somebody else. The bracket is fixed in place and will not move. When you move the axle other parts will respond to the mates in order.

Here's the project I'm having issues with. The case is fixed in place. When I close the lid, the sub-assembly attached to the lid, and it's parts all move. This in certainly not the desired action.

Those parts are not fully constrained - they have too many open "degrees of freedom". Click and drag on the parts inside of the lid, and note the movement - if they move in unpredictable ways, add more constraints until the model behaves the way you intend. Hope this helps.
I would say they move as intended, but I don't understand why they move when I move other objects that their constraints aren't tied to.
I checked your model. That is how it's supposed to act with the constraints you have, there is nothing wrong. Suggest you do the assembly training.
For context, OS assemblies are like real life. If you had those parts assembled like you did in the physical world, the subasm attached to the lid with a hinge pin would flop around when you opened the main lid, just like it does in your CAD assembly.
