can we use a point in Plane A as the Mid Point to constrain a sketch on Plane B?
Hi Everyone,
I recently watched a Youtube vedio - links are at blow. At 2:07 , the author seems to be using a point in Plane A as the Mid Point to constrain a sketch on Plane B ? I speculate it as he is using the project of that point on Plane 1 as the Mid Point to constrain the edge of the hexagon ?
But i didn't find any article or youtube vedio saying that we can use the Midpoint constrain this way.
Could anyone please confirm?
Many thanks
Jasmine

Hi Jasmine,
He's using the endpoint of the sketch1 to constrain the center of the hexagon on sketch 2. this is perfectly possible. just by snapping it there and it'll auto constrain. it will apply a coincident constraint, which you could also do manually.
BTW using the plane to create sketch2 is a leftover from legacy CAD. in this case I would opt to skip the plane and create a sketch immediately using the mate connector in the sketch plane selection dialog. the little circle thing. it will allow you to select the end of the line of sketch1 and create sketch on the mateconnector (which is created automatically) perpendicular to that line. (unless that plane is used again and again)
kind regards
