How to assemble two pieces held together gravitationnaly?
On my quest for a holder, I almost came to an end - it is now time to look at the assembly and visually decide on some modifications. The assembly is made of the holder I designed and an oblong piece that will fit in it. It will be inserted from the above and since there are some cables hanging at the bottom, the ring must have a cut
After watching some tutorials, I tried to do my first assembly but failed to use the right connector. I was looking for something like a "tangent" or "contact" connector, where two surfaces would be in contact. In my case both surfaces are convex (or whatever topological name is correct) so the contact will be on two lines. The problem is that I do not know the lines upfront (they are the "it fits" lines) so it would be better to use two surfaces and cross fingers for Oneshape to guess what I want.
My question: is there a way to automatically assemble these two shapes or should I continue to do that manually
Note: I do not need a physics simulation to check if the object will fit or fall - I will do that visually, then empirically. The "gravitational" in the title meant that it is a "manually inserted" kind of assembly

Tangent mate wasn't allowed on that ellipsoid shape, but I got it to work with a tangent between the claw and the sketch of the ellipsoid.

A tangent constraint should work?
