Improvement Request: Reference Coordinate System setting
In the forum, I found [https://forum.onshape.com/discussion/comment/111292#Comment_111292] which is looking for a vehicle coordinate frame. Questions were asked if an improvement request was submitted and what the suggested fix would be. I could not find anything in the improvement requests or product feedback related to this subject.
In short I am trying to submit an improvement request that adds a per document setting of the reference coordinate frame. As far as I know there would be two option, camera and object (maybe vehicle and architectural), and the selection would flip what defines left and right.
The exact names for these two choice could be argued based on a person background but the idea is that right and left have different meanings based on your reference frame — or based on what you are working on. A ships port side is the left side if you are on/in the ship but the right side if you are looking through a camera in front of the ship. Exit stage right means the actor leaves to the left if you are in the audience. When sitting on a chair, in a vehicle, or on a stage front and right have very clear meanings that do not align with the OnShape view box and views. This can easily lead to confusion when talking to others.
