Boolean Subtract as a path or die
I am trying to design a simple cupholder. I have been able to use the two cups a as derived parts to cut-out the holder using boolean and remove parts.
This works fine however on one of the cups the handle is slightly protruding into the holder and the boolean makes the holder follow the curve of the handle. Which is not the desired outcome.
As you can see, the holder now fits around the handle.
I can 'tweak' this by using the handle sketch to do an extrude|remove on the holder, but that is not as neat as using the boolean + offset feature.
Is there anyway in which you can use the cup as a 'die' that is pressed into the holder from above whilst maintaining the offset option?
I.e. the desired outcome would look like this:
