How do I exactly replicate a bezier curve to make it follow with a 5mm gap?

I am very new to this, so the wording might be incorrect here. I'll also be the first to admit I have no idea what I'm doing, as this is my second time designing something.

Context → I'm designing a clip to wrap around a baby gate that will prevent our kid from hitting the button to remove it from the wall. It will look like a "C". My plan is to create the right side, then figure out how to just mirror it across the axis in my sketch, then extrude it.

I have created a bezier line and have it exactly how I want with my control points. I now need to make another bezier curve, but 5mm away to create a band essentially. I can create another bezier curve and try to match it by eye, but that's not going to be exact and there has to be a better way.

offset. You might want to spend some time with the learning website if you are new.

Finish tour sketch then do a 'thin extrude' 5mm thick.

That worked out perfectly, thank you so much for the help! And yes, I know I need to do some more learning. Using projects along the way to figure out things I don't know as well.
