i have laid out post positions into a part studio, i have placed mate connectors onto these to fix posts to in the future.
in my assembly i have imported the tower. but the mates have not come through. i want to import posts from another part studio to place in position. and then work on creating braces and tie rods.
is there a way to bring the mates into an assembly, or to bring the sketck in to add new mate connectors?

Are the mates connectors associated with the sketches or parts? When ownership of the mate connector is with the part then it will be in the assembly other wise you'll need to bring in the sketch. Better behavior with the part since the part may move around within the assembly.
I added them to the points on the sketch
How do I bring in the sketch?
