Mating 2 tubes

I am trying to mate two tubes. The end of one is notched at an angle to connect to the side of the other. I can move them into approximate position, but I can't figure out how to actually do a fasten mate in that position.. I think I could probably draw the two part in position in one Parts Studio, but I would like to learn how to do the mate.
Any/all help is appreciated!

I added a mate connector in the part studio associated with axle tube to give alignment for the barrel. A fasten mate in assembly will do the job and can be adjusted.

cylindrical mate with the cut surface and one of the cylinder surfaces.
I tried cylindrical mate to the cut surface but it gave me grief. Something confused me.
