boolean function in assembly

So I made a new part in a context of an assembly with the idea to do a union boolean with an existing part in this assembly.

All went well until I realised in assembly there is no boolean function. I now have the original parts plus some extra parts which I want to join.

Is there any way to make this happen anyway and if yes how?

I could use derive in the part studio but then I need to make some reference on the parts to get theire positions perfect. Is this the only way?

EDIT: I was too fast with asking. Not sure if it is the only way but with derive and reference holes it worked.

If there is an easier way to do it directly in the assembly without having to make references, I like to hear it?

Open context to the original part and you can add what needed there. No, it is not a function in assembly, Any part studio functions can be used to expand on the original part. Derive us unnecessary. No need to start a new context with a new part studio.

Right click on the part you want to change and look for edit in context from drop down list.
