Working With Outside Designers
I've searched and was unable to find an explanation for working with another company that uses Onshape. What's the intended workflow?
Would they design and just transfer ownership when it's complete? Is the transfer instantaneous?
I see a warning that metadata will be removed when it's transferred. This could be a problem.
Maybe giving access to a specific folder in Onshape to the outside designer would be a better option? Would this allow them access to our custom property metadata when creating parts and assemblies?
Thanks!

Paradoxically, if either company (or both) have Enterprise, it’s a lot more difficult. Can you be more specific about your situation and what you’re trying to achieve? In your ideal world, what would each party be doing over the course of the collaboration?
Yes, that's strange indeed. I was aiming to introduce OS in a company I worked for, but when it came to discussing whether we should use Enterprise (Which management kinda loved for they were control freaks), most o the advantages I had been advertising before dissolved.
I feel there should be a "Project Collaboration" feature in Enterprise. This would allow flagging other companies or individuals as cooperators while setting up projects.
Sorry, I should have mentioned we have Professional licences. Ideally we would have the outside designer design using our standards. Meaning finished parts would have our custom properties included and all details would be on our title blocks. We'd want access to the in progress designs and when finished they would be ours.
You can just share the document with them with edit privileges. Share/with individuals/email.
If you want them to have access to drawing templates to create new drawing tabs on their own, I'm not sure how that works. You can also share folders, so if you have templates or common parts in other documents, you might want them in a folder that you share.
It may be easier (but not cheaper) to allocate a user to the outside designer while they're working for you.
Indeed this is an area yet to be addressed, yes it's easy to share and invite people into your Environment, but the fact that you would have to allocate one of the users accounts to someone that is already a paying user, seems very counterintuitive.
