Why are my corner reliefs not the same size?

william_laceywilliam_lacey Member Posts: 11 PRO

Working on a sheet metal model. I draw the shape and then convert it to a sheet metal model. I remove 3 faces, and select two edges as the bends. When I add a flange to the top three edges (they are aligned to the angular edge), I get a collision detection warning and the flat pattern has two different corner reliefs. One looks to be sized correctly and the other is about half the size. I have not modified any of the reliefs.

What could be causing this? I've tried this on two different models with the same result.

Adding to the confusion on this one, I was able to get the reliefs to be the same size, but they are not in the same position in the Y direction on the flat pattern. The centers of the reliefs are offset by around 0.13in. I can get rid of the problem completely by turning on automatic miter, but this is how my client has been producing their parts for years, so I'd like to keep it that way.

What is the second sheet metal part for? Looks fine to me until the lapping part is drawn over top.

Once you finish the sheet metal model it does not change the flat pattern with following edits. No need to finish sheet metal part unless you're making something like a machined cutout later that can't be done as sheet metal.

The second sheet metal part was me trying to build the model in a different way. Instead of working with the full part, I tried to do only half of it and mirror it over, but I ended up with the same result. I added the finish sheet metal features to make sure that the features didn't make any changes to the previous part (I know they are unnecessary).

I opened your model, and it looks close upon visual inspection, but the centers are offset. They should be aligned. I just got a response from support, and they confirmed that it has been identified as a bug and they are working on a fix.

Yes. A bug. Looks like you went through some grief to find that out. Looks fine until the flange operation.

Actually it's not my model. I just did a roll back to see if any the subsequent operations cause a problem.
