Named render modes

Is there a way to make named render modes that I can easily switch between? I tried named views and display states but neither capture the current render mode, which is understandable for their intended purpose.
I use two to three render modes commonly, in both part studios and assemblies, and switching requires multiple changes to the render options panel each time. I would love to assign to a shortcut.

You can assign custom keyboard shortcuts (in your preferences) that activate the various render modes.

Yes, thanks. Unfortuately, you cannot create a pseudo-macro by assigning the same shortcut to two different options, which is what I want. But this still much better than diving through menus. I did this with two keys adjacent on keyboard and it is workable.

One more point: this is really a preferences type thing because I want it across all by documents. It is not something I customize per document or per tab. So ideally this customization would be available in the preferences section.
You can set the defaults for these 3 menu items by right clicking.
right, but I want to quickly flip between two sets of settings.
Doesn't quite solve your problem but you can have two browser tabs open of the same thing, one setup for each of your preferred modes.
You are still going to have to set that up with every "session" (and every part studio or assembly) but it will allow you to switch back and forth (or even have both on screen at the same time.
I'll try that
