Smooth over step like with a spline

Hi all
Probably not the best title, however what I'm trying to do is smooth over a step between two surfaces, but with more control than what fillet provides. This is a 2d sketch of the curve I'm trying to achieve:
That's with a constrained spline in a sketch, so I could mirror it, close the surface, then do a couple of extrude and remove, but I was looking for a more elegant solution. Is there one?
Thanks!

Replace face is pretty elegant.
Another way might be just start with that outline (with the spline in the sketch and extrude it. I'm guessing this might be part of a bigger project so it needs to have a step in it first? If not, don't make it more complicated than you have to. sketch and extrude and done.
Thank you both, the solution with replace face looks like what I was after, though I had hoped there would be a single tool (like fillet) to achieve that rather than 3 entities. I'll try that!
Was there a reason you can just do it all in one sketch and extrude? no need for surface or replace face based on final result of matt's example
