Trouble with extrude into a part starting at the surface.
I'm trying to extrude text into the part so that I can then print it face down and have the text be flush with the rest of part. However when the the surface of the extrude is flush with the rest of the part the the extrude doesn't actually work… it looks like the surface of the extrude is fighting with the surface of the original part.
I know a while ago I saw a video where this issue was tackled but for the 3 nights I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for.

Someone else was doing something similar not long ago. took me a while to realize they were printing the text in a different color while at the same time printing the body. I think that's what your trying to do here. Roberts suggestion will remove the text from the part but leave you with no letters to print. If you want to print the letters flush with the part in the same print operation. you will probably want to use composite part tool to combine all letters into one object (so they can be selected as one color easily in slicer) and then use a boolean subtraction leaving tools checked on. this should leave you with 2 parts for printing. With boolean you can just select a composite part from the tree for some reason so you need to select each letter for that step and also remember to select 'closed' check box on the composite step to eliminate the extra parts in the tree.

Hey John. It looks like you have New selected as the extrude type in that feature. I think what you want is Remove. That wonky look you got is just the display of your base and the individual text parts you created, as you say, 'fighting' each other. - Scotty
