    @ erich_koch , there are many methods to achieve your requirement,

    1. No need to do separate sketch.You can use already created sketch.Select extrude and already created sketch.Use second direction option.


    2. Select the sketch and select the face of a created body.You can project the already created sketch by using"Use" tool.
    3.If you don't want to create sketch in the face of part then you can create a sketching plane by selecting "plane" option.


    Then you can continue the second step by selecting plane instead of face.
