is it possible to create custom select queries for use in the GUI?

Can I write my own queries to add to that sub-menu starting with Tangent connected edges? For example, to let me select an extrude feature or perhaps end cap and have it select all the edges along the length of the extrude. Or perhaps, like parallel edges but constrained to those of the same length and at the same 'height' as the selection. I have only recently started with featurescript but could imagine writing such queries there, I'm just not sure if there's any way to get them usable in the GUI.
