exporting geometry with 'superfluous 'extra' entities (edges/divided faces/vertexes etc)

Hello,
I currently work with two different CAD softwares, onshape and salome. in salome, i am able to add edges over a face of a solid but not sure that i can do this in onshape? for example add an extra edge for a cube would look like this:
this is a 'perfect' cube, that I added an extra edge that divides a face, so, the solid has 7 faces 15 edges (1 extra + 2 edges that has been divided into 2) and 10 vertexes. what I want to do is create this geometry in onshape and that when i export it in STEP file, i can import and have this extra vertexes/edges/faces
a lot of times onshape 'simplifies' the geometry to have a geometry as clean as possible. but it is bringing me issues, as for example for cylinders other CADs (eg., salome) adds an extra edge for the revolution surface, and it does not do it consistently, and this can be problematic for my workflow
this is how a cylinder that was created by extruding a circle (or revolution of a rectangle looks like) which one can see there is an extra edge, (seam) and in more complex geometries this can be quite frustrating and problematic.
furthemore for identification of some faces i need to do as the case on the cube, where a face is divided into two…
is this possible?

use Split Face. You'll have to do it manually for each extra edge you'd want though, I can't think of a way for this to be the default behaviour.

Hello @jelte_steur814 ,
thanks for your reply, but I can not see anywhere 'split face' feature. maybe you mean simply split? I didnt thought about testing it…. thanks
