sheetmetal tabs by extrusion, or...

I am just starting to explore sheetmetal in OnShape. I have limited experience from years ago with sheetmetal PCB mounts and cases in Pro/E. Here I created the original sheetmetal model feature using thicken for the sketch of the section running off the left of the screen. I then created the highlighted sketch and used the on-geometry ability of the flange feature to create the two selected flanges. This is slick and works well here.

I am curious if there is an option where I could use something more like the extrude-style functionality available in the initial sheet metal model feature to add the selected flanges. In this case with only two segments the flange feature as I used it worked reasonably. I could imagine with more complex cases it might get annoying.

Thanks for any pointers to expand my abilities here in this new-to-me portion of OnShape.

Cheers,

-kyle

do you maybe mean something like this?

Thanks for the example and sorry I missed the notification all week. :[

It appears that you are doing this as part of the initial sheet metal creation. My part may be better modeled that way, perhaps, but I was hoping for an option that would allow me to more generally select multiple lines from the flange feature, for example. As opposed to having to create one flange feature following geometry (the first sketch segment) and then another flange (the second sketch segment).

But, this is mostly about learning the featureset and techniques. Needing two features in this simple case is fine.
