How to join to parts in different part studios and create a new solid part (filling every void)

carlos_quiroz523carlos_quiroz523 Member Posts: 2

I have 2 parts, 1 I drew it in onshape from 0, the second part came from a .stp file I find on the public domain.

I Have created a Assembly and position both parts in the correct position. What i need is to fill the voids (air or empty space) between both with solid material.

Not sure if my image make more clear what i what to do.

So, just to clarify, you want to merge both parts then fill in any gaps, "any gaps" meaning exactly where?

The way i would starts since i don't know exactly which gaps to remove would to use Derived to take the model from the .stp and place it in the same Part Studio as the custom model, and then use Boolean. Then, use the Cross Section (which is under the dropdown menu from the View Cube) to scan through looking for airgaps. use Delete Face to delete all the faces in the contained area to fill it.

There are pages on Onshape to use Delete Face and Derived here:

Make sure you are using Heal for the Delete Face!!!
