Loft

hey there i was trying to use the loft tool to make a surf board and i cant seem to make it work. right now the loft seems to concave instead of going straight down. also it seems to cut through the board

Can you share a public document? Most likely you have some sort of funky edge which is causing the surface to be very tortured or you've accidentally set a tangency relationship with the surface.
Did you try turning on isocurves? That'll show you how the loft is trying to solve the surface.
The lower selected profile has a third point on it. I suspect that'll cause the Loft to act this way. it's trying to match points on one line, to points on the other. if there's an unequal number, it'll just connect that point (close to the end) to another made-up point on the top profile. in this case it may have just chosen the center of that edge.
Turn on 'connections' to manually manipulate where that point should connect to on the top profile and it'll probably solve it.
