How do I define this spline?

Screenshot 2025-04-14 102544.png

I'm trying to make a tentacle monster for a project and can't for the life of me figure out how to define the tentacles. I used a spline to create them, and lines to cut off the excess where they met the body. Any help is appreciated!

If you want the spline fully defined so all sketch entities become black then you might want to dimension the end modifiers. X/Y dimensions to the end of the handles or length and angle. Since each tentacle looks to be the same then extrude/ loft or what ever final shape is wanted. Finish the pattern with a circular pat array instead of at the sketch level.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to fully define a spline but for projects like this. It would seem easier and faster and less frustrating to just use the fix constraint on the spline. Also glen is right. just do one tentacle then pattern the rest if they are all the same.

also be aware that fully defining is not required. It's best practice for production files, but for a quick sketch i wouldn't bother. I usually define the regular geometry automatically, even with a quick sketch. but splines are more work.
