Thread doesn't get printed

toxitschtoxitsch Member Posts: 5

Hi guys, I have a question:

I added a M12x1 thread to a part, but when i export it as a .stl, the thread disappears and doesn't get printed.

What am i doing wrong? :-/

Hi Werner. When you add a tapped hole using the Hole tool, Onshape will add cosmetic threads, so your part looks realisitc, but actual threads are not created. So, your .stl will be a smooth cylinder. If you want to 3D print threads, you will need to make them yourself. You can sweep a helix, or I think there are some thread custom features out there, like this one.
