⚠️How to use AI + Onshape Render Studio for Production Videos (2025)

.
Note:
This post will probably be outdated in a few months as AI tech is advancing so rapidly.
.
I was doing some research on how to make a neat product video and found that usually you would need to spend weeks learning how to use Blender or Cinema 4D then more weeks just to produce a single one minute video. This means 1 month+ just to learn some software and make a 1 minute video. Or you could pay someone a few grand to do it for you, which I currently don't want to do.
After a bit more research, I found a nice compromise for making interesting product videos while not having to spend much time learning software. See the gif below, as well as the pros and cons to this approach.

How to make a quick production video (As of April 2025)
- Using Onshape's Render studio, you can generate key frames.
- With Deevid.ai you can use those key frames along with a prompt to generate a 5 second clip.
- With Camtasia or another video editing software, you can put all the clips together with nice transitions.
Pros
- Saves money
- Saves time (Lots of time!)
Cons
- Doesn't look as nice as Cinema 4D or Blender
- Current AI algorithms still show some funky shapes or movements at times
- Deevid.ai doesn't produce very high resolution videos. Perhaps you could upscale the video, but I haven't found anything that keeps the original look.
I imagine it would be easy, once you get past the initial set up, to use a game engine (Unity or Unreal) to render your products. The set up would be difficult, but once you are past that, you could re-use the setup for similar products.

thanks for sharing! this is a very interesting workflow and I'm really curious to see where AI takes this kind of thing in the next few years.

Sure thing!
Unless AI's progression plateaus soon, we will no longer need media grunts of any kind. Instead, they will be replaced with media directors (People), that use AI tools to do the work of 100 or even 1000 grunts.
One really great thing from the advancement of AI is that Hollywood will be left in the dust. Users like you and me will be able to make full episodes of any show we want; without Hollywood's use of slavery, blackmail, you name it, etc...
I'm interested to see how it changes game development. Currently we use game engines and object oriented programming as you would expect. I saw a demo played the other day that had no scripts controlling the backend in the way normal games work. Instead, the AI was generating it on the fly and had a cache so it could remember what it just created and reproduce it. Crazy.
