Transform to origin

I have figured out how to select a specific point for the Transform command and how to make it appear to "snap" to a point, specifically to the origin. After the Transform, however, when I then click on the center point that is supposed to be at the origin, the X= & Y= coordinates in the lower left corner are not exactly on the origin: X=-9.981e-6 (-0.000010) Y=-3.203e-6 (-0.000003). I am using the drawings to determine coordinates for manual rotary table milling with a digital read-out, so I want the coordinates to be exact. The "Original location" part studio, "Tool Path" sketch is the original sketch with the center at X=0, Y=0. The "Rotated location" part studio is a copy of the "Tool Path" sketch that I cannot get to position exactly on the X=0, Y=0 origin. Since the origin is off, all the other coordinates in the sketch are off.

Also, when copying the sketch entities, I would expect that Transforming back to the origin, the copied sketch would be fully constrained like the original, but it is not. Why?

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Why are you copy/pasting the sketch in a new part studio?

Copy paste, doesn't include any "external" references so since your tool path is made by "use" of other sketches, these external relations don't exist anymore if copy paste (and they don't exist at all when pasting in a new part studio).

There are different ways to get the information you are trying to get, I'm not sure I would use a sketch, a simple offset surface (offset by 0.125 would be easier to work with…

Regardless the "proper" way do this is to rotate the view of the original thing (not create a copy)!

I think the simplest would just be to use "align view" to pick your "horizontal" reference on the drawing:

    Align view.gif
