Help with revolute and slider mate

Hello all. I am pretty new to CAD and am designing a engine driven pump on a platform that will raise up and down as needed. I have a revoute mate for the driveshaft and a slider mate for the elevator guides. However, when I animate the revolute mate the platform jumps up and down along the slide mate. Can anyone advise me what I am missing? Also I cannot manually pull the platform up and down after I set the limits. It will only move with the animate tool. Any help would be appreciated. I think there's a lot more mates being used to center the gantry movement by using a lot of planar mates when you can bring in a sliding rail and use a single sliding mate to move it across. If you fix the gantry, it easily lowers the pump. So if you eliminate the multiple planar mates and replace it with a single slider mate, it could easily switch between the movement of sliding across and lowering it down.
@afalzate13 Thank you very much for your input. Actually the gantry will be fixed to the pontoon, but when I tried to fix it, it became over defined. I guess it's for the same reason you mentioned, too many planar mates?
