How to Add a Curved Extrusion to a Projected Sketch on a Cylinder?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently modeling my NovoPen 6 insulin pen in Onshape and could use some help with a specific feature.

I’ve projected a 2D sketch onto the side of a cylindrical surface, and now I’d like to turn that shape into a smooth, curved bump something like a domed or organically contoured protrusion, not just a basic straight extrusion.

The goal is for this bump to blend naturally with the cylindrical body, following its curvature. What would be the best workflow to accomplish this in Onshape?

There are multiple ways to do this. It looks like your current approach is almost there. One way is to split the face of the cylinder with your black curve, then delete the area where the bump will be. Then use the Fill feature to fill the area back in. When you fill, you can use your sketches as guide curves that the fill will follow.

Agreed. Fill with a face blend looks pretty good.
