Constant error in 3D printing

matthew_rosete380matthew_rosete380 Member Posts: 32

So I made a earbud case model and decided to print it. However every time I try to print it, it always has this error:

I always calibrate the printer before I print it and clean it but it still does this. Also I reviewed my print settings and it doesn't print this error in any other type of build I try with these settings. Can you tell me what is going on?

Here is the Onshape Doc if needed:

Also the Layer height is 0.16mm and the speed is 50mm/s

Hi, I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with your model. I think you should look for the answer in your slicer software.
Have you considered the pathways of the nozzle? For example, does it cross the outer perimeter, and do you print both parts at the same time?

I figured out what was wrong. The pathway wasn't the problem for some reason the filament was retracting on outer surfaces and with the supports on the side the extruded wasn't able to extrude it out fast enough.

It looks like the problem starts at the same level as the top of the front protrusion of the Earbud Upper Part.

Maybe something to do with seams or retraction?

If you have a Bambu printer, I suggest asking in forum.bambu.com.

Smells like a temperature issue. I'd maybe decrease (?) hotend temperature and fiddle with the part cooling fan percentage. Like, if you're printing with PLA at 200C, go to 185 and see what happens.

I don't print multiple parts at once I print them by themselves. Also nothing crosses the outer perimeter to my knowledge I am looking over the slicer settings to see if there is any kind of mesh repair I need to do and looking over the movement and pauses of the nozzle but I don't know if that is the root problem.

Here is also a screen recording of how the layer is supposed to be printed:

Also When I tried this the Filament wouldn't stick to the plate it just kept slipping off

Except why wouldn't it do that for other things, why just this

On the plate adhesion front, you can set a higher initial layer temp (I think that's what it's called in Cura), then a lower temp for further layers. I expect you'd get the same kind of artifact on similar models. And play with part cooling. Is your fan only on one side of the nozzle? You can rotate the model by 180 and see if you get the artifact in the same place.

I figured out what was happening it was retraction
