Help making a mold from a Mesh

Hi, been struggling for a while and can't figure out how to make a mold of the front face of this part I scanned. I've made them before from more boxy parts by just creating an extrusion and using a boolean remove to get the exact inverse of the face that I can 3D print. But this part is thin and I can't figure out how to only get the front face.
Front Face that I want to make a mold from.
The rear….
I've been using Evan Reeses excellent mesh tools and I can get some spine on mesh curves but can only seem to make a fill on the back but that won't split or boolean an extrusion. I can't seem to find any combination of surfaces/curves/extrusions that will remove all the unwanted fill on the rear face of the part and leave just the front surface. Constrained surface doesn't work, I've tried splitting the mesh and still can't get it to work. I feel like there's an easy/obvious way to do it but I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

Try using Evans latest feature Drape Surface should help quite a bit.
