Disabling or Controlling the “Show All” Right-Click Behavior in Onshape

rey_rautrey_raut Member Posts: 2

Hey everyone,

I’ve been running into a recurring issue in Onshape and wanted to open it up for discussion (and hopefully some solutions or workarounds). Whenever I’m working in a Part Studio or Assembly, I often accidentally right-click and hit “Show all”, which ends up displaying all mates, mate connectors, sketches, etc. It really clutters the workspace, especially in complex models, and I have to manually hide everything again to get back to a clean view.

As far as I know, there’s no current setting to disable or customize the context (right-click) menu to prevent this. I understand why the feature exists—it can be helpful in some cases—but it would be nice to toggle this off, or at least have a confirmation dialog before all hidden elements are shown.

Questions for the community:

  • Has anyone found a way to avoid this besides being super careful?
  • Are there settings or interface tweaks I might have missed?
  • Would anyone else support a feature request to customize or restrict the right-click menu?

In the meantime, I’ve been using filters in the feature tree and keeping items collapsed in folders to reduce the visual mess when “Show all” is triggered, but that’s more of a workaround than a real solution.

Would love to hear your thoughts, or if anyone has submitted a feature request for this already.

Thanks!

This isn't necessarily the solution you're looking for, but if you do accidentally hit "Show all," you can use Shift + P to hide all planes, mates, and sketches. This should at least be better than needing to hide everything manually.
