Fill and Boundary Surface tools not matching existing geometry

I'm having a heck of a time with my first project. I'm making a replacement piece for something that broke off our toaster, which i'm going to 3d print. My issue is that after creating a void where it will slot on to the existing real world lever, I can't find a way to properly fill the surface that was cut out. I have used the Fill and Boundary surface tools to try and cover the hole in a simple curved surface, but the geometry doesn't seem to want to line up with either tool, which is causing hell for the slicer. I looked around on google and on here but haven't found any fixes that have worked, any ideas?
the project in question, i'm trying to fill that hole in on the large curved surface on top.

If you blue piece is a 3d solid and not surfaces... Just use delete face tool with the heal option turned on.
