Configurations of released parts

It's currently not possible to change the configuration of a released part in an assembly. This makes sense for configurations that permanently, physically change a part, but what about something like a spring which can have different elongation lengths? In a part studio for a spring, I set up configurations so that I can change the spring to two different elongation lengths. I insert two of this spring in an assembly with the two different length configurations, but I can't do this if pulling the released part. To use released versions of the spring in the assembly, I have to have two releases each with the spring configured to a different length, which is not ideal because it should be identified as the same part from the same release. Would it make sense for there to be an override option for enabling released parts to be configurable? Perhaps the user should be allowed to decide when this is ok (and perhaps with a message suggesting to only do this for things like a spring that can be flexed without being permanently changed). Or is there an existing solution that I'm unaware of?

I you set the spring configuration input to "exclude from properties" the configurations will share a single part number to be released.

It's not available for assemblies but I think it should solve your specific use case.
