Working on a semicircle chamfer

jj_swanepoeljj_swanepoel Member Posts: 4

I'm trying to design a part that broke on my belt sander and I need to have a protractor on the edge of the design, but I just cannot figure out how to get the extrude function to work properly on said chamfered edge.

This is the chamfered outer edge, on that edge the protractor markings should go.

This is the idea, to extrude to the chamfered surface so that the markings is visible, the idea to replicate this:

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Extrude up to face, with an offset defined.
I would recommend only modeling one marking line (the 0) and then with a circular (face) pattern (symmetric) create the others from there.

@jelte_steur814 I'm very sorry for inconveniencing you.
I'm very new to Onshape, having used Tinkercad exclusively for a long time now.

I have tried watching tutorials, but nothing seems to address the solution I'm looking for.
Could you maybe point me in the direction of a tutorial on what you suggested?

The markings were created with the circular pattern tool (sketch 3) on the top face and not on one of the drawing faces since I could not get to select the chamfer face as one of the plains to create a sketch on.

Use the Wrap tool with your rectangular sketches and wrap it down onto the chamfered face. It's in the dropdown next to Transform in the toolbar

@jj_swanepoel …Was a bit tedious with the degree numbers, but otherwise fairly simple. All done with basic Sketches, Extrudes and Circular Patterns.

Take the training OnShape offers in their Learning Center (especially the Learning Pathways)…they even have a curriculum for those how have "other" CAD experience.
