How to select the farthest point on an item in a sketch?

I'm trying to make a latch on a box and I would like the latch to be spaced a certain distance away from a curve, but I'm not sure how to do so.
What I want to do is have the furthest left point on this curve spaced a defined distance away from a line laterally. I marked this image up to try to help explain.

make a vertical line tangent to the curve and place a point there.
… or make a point somewhere on the arc, then constrain it vertical with the arc center. In other words: Just tell the software precisely what you really want.
Thanks, I'm silly for not thinking of this.
Not sure what that would do. Would it not just make the point above the center of the arc?
or put a point on the curve and constrain it horizontal to the center, which is what the other response meant.
Yes. In principle. ;0)
