Roadblocks - Surface Texturing and Latticing for AM

wgdesignwgdesign Member Posts: 6 ✭✭

Hi Brainstrust!

Two roadblocks I have in my workflow currently is how to add different textures or surface treatments to my models, as well as an affordable way to do latticing for additive manufacture / 3D printing.

What do you guys to to get around this lack of functionality in Onshape?

We use two methods to define surface treatments:

    1. Surface Treatment Property: We assign a part property called "Surface Treatment", which is then referenced directly on the drawing.
    2. Local Textures or Surface Treatments: For localized textures or surface details, we include a note directly on the drawing.

As for latticing, we typically apply it using the slicer tools within the respective additive manufacturing software. However, we’ve also introduced a part property called "Manufacturing Norm", where the desired latticing settings for additive manufacturing can be specified.
