CAM Studio - Non-standard Machine

james_coe409james_coe409 Member Posts: 7

Hi All,

I am keen to implement CAM studio into our manufacturing process. We have an ART Flatbead CNC router used for 2-Axis Profile Cutting and Drilling.

I can program what we need into CAM Studio, but I need to export to a simple .cnc format with g-code.

Do I need to use a specific machine, or is there another way? I have tried a couple machines and they have exported with .ncl and .nc formats.

Any tutorials about this yet? Is it possible to use a Non-standard Machine?

IMHO There needs to be a simple method to model the machine in onshape using mates to control movement of any axis there is.

I used 3-Axis Generic Milling - GRBL to generate g-code that I then ran on a Laguna IQ CNC router. It worked very well. With your .cnc format I would try opening it with notepad - if it is just text g-code then this format should work, you may need to change the file exentension to .cnc
