Why Won't My Circle Extrude as Solid?

jeff_lang200jeff_lang200 Member Posts: 4

Hello,

I have a drawing (https://cad.onshape.com/documents/63b5a285557130d7a5ca8f1c/w/92f58b499d92ab2d504a7c36/e/7ab2b259283558826ba9ac4e?renderMode=0&uiState=6952e861d7a23c9f05528e7e) and I'm trying to extrude the circle from Sketch 3 as a solid but the only extrusion option is surface. I see that the circle is made of a dashed line but it's different from the construction dashes. From the research I did in trying to fix this, that usually indicates that the shape isn't closed but I can't imagine that's the case with a basic circle when I used the circle tool to make it. The circle is dimensioned and showing up in black in the sketch. What am I doing wrong on this? Thanks!

Works for me. There is an edge and a region it encloses; to extrude the enclosed region, you have to actually select that region. There are two primary ways to do this: either 1. mouse over it, press ~, and select Face of Sketch 3, or 2. just hide Part 1 and just mouse-select the circular region.

Mind, at the top of the extrude feature, you also have to select the Solid option.

Thank you very much! For some reason I wasn't able to get that to work with Part 1 showing, so that was probably my issue.
