how to tangent mate pin to spline path in assembly

i want to make the rod with pin slide in the path in the outer tube.
I've attempted following this tutorial, but cant get my 3d spline to work. https://www.onshape.com/en/resource-center/tech-tips/advanced-mating-pin-slot-tangent-mate
